NNP Environmental Commitment

Being Green

At Northwest Natural Products®, being mindful of resources is a given--use only what's needed, and leave things better than you found them.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
At NNP we embrace our role as stewards of the Earth's resources. Since the beginning, NNP has looked at Corporate Responsibility as the right thing to do. Because we are all members of the community we call Earth, NNP continues to examine our environmental impact and look for ways to minimize our footprint.

"Our commitment to a greener tomorrow is evident through our efforts in waste reduction," says Kate Jones, NNP Founder. At a time when 2 million plastic bottles are consumed in the US every five minutes, NNP believes in decreasing the waste we generate from our factory to your home. We are working closely with many major retailers including Costco, Target and Walmart to minimize product packaging and waste. Since the beginning, NNP has reduced the amount of packaging for each of our Gummy Vites bottles. Consumers have never purchased a bottle with secondary individual box packaging. NNP believes in minimizing our ecological impact and conservation of resources is one of our goals.

Our use of Number 1 Plastics, or PETE, in all of our products is an essential step in NNP's efforts in recycling. PETE plastic is lightweight, easy to recycle and is picked up through most curbside recycling programs. The plastic is in high demand to be remanufactured and can be recycled into a wide variety of products including polar fleece, fiber, tote bags, furniture, carpet and new containers. Because the plastic poses a low risk of leaching breakdown products, it is just one more way that NNP is working toward a sustainable future while protecting the earth's natural resources.

BPA Free
Who said nothing in life is free? At NNP our plastic bottles have always been free of BPA. Bisphenol A, or BPA, is a toxic chemical found in polycarbonate plastic. "BPA leeches from the plastic into the food and we eat the food. There is no biological value or need for BPA. It can cause a variety of health problems," says Dr. John Spangler of Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. At a time when health is on everyone's mind you can be sure that NNP, the leader in vitamins and supplements, is working to protect your health and the health of our planet.

The facility that manufactures these products also produces products that contain soy.
